These merit-based scholarships are awarded to exceptional students joining the Master of Science in Information Technology program on the basis of academic and/or professional achievement.

Pittsburgh Regional Leaders Scholarships

Heinz College offers a limited number of Regional Leaders Scholarships to incoming full- and part-time students who have a demonstrated a commitment to the Pittsburgh community. If you are interested in a Regional Leaders Scholarship, we require that an individual who can testify to your commitment to and impact on the Pittsburgh community writes at least one of your recommendations for admission.

Excellence in Technology Fellowships

Heinz College offers a limited number of half-tuition Excellence in Technology Fellowships each year. These fellowships are awarded to exceptional students joining the Master of Science in Information Technology program. Awards will be based on the student’s potential for excellence and leadership in the field of information technology and management.

City of Pittsburgh/Allegheny County Scholarship Program

Heinz College awards enrolling City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County employees a minimum tuition scholarship of 35 percent per semester (may be awarded as an MSIT Program Scholarship).*

Nonprofit, Municipal and Government Employee Scholarships

Heinz College awards enrolling Municipal and Government (U.S. federal, state, or local level) and nonprofit organizations' employees a minimum tuition scholarship of 25 percent per semester (may be awarded as a Master of Science in Information Technology Program Scholarship).*

Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA)

Heinz College awards Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) employees a minimum tuition scholarship of 30 percent per semester (may be awarded as a Master of Science in Information Technology Program Scholarship).*

*In order to qualify for the "Employment-Based" scholarships, you must provide written verification of employment on your employer's letterhead, signed by your supervisor, with the application for admission. You will be asked to submit verification of continued eligible employment to the Master of Science in Information Technology program office annually.

Heinz College has partnered with a number of organizations to provide financial support to their members in order to reduce the cost of attending graduate school. If you are affiliated with one or more of these partner organizations, you are eligible for a Strategic Partners Scholarship from Heinz College as a result of that affiliation. In order to be considered, you should indicate on your application for admission your experience or involvement with one or more of the partner organizations.

Incoming master's students who have completed their bachelor's degree at a regional or national education partner of Heinz College are awarded a Regional or National Education Partner scholarship. Heinz College awards a scholarship of 30% up to 100% of tuition to eligible students enrolling on a full-time basis. Find a full list of the partner schools.

Heinz College Executive Education Alumni Scholarships

If you are a student who has completed one of Heinz College’s Executive Education certificate programs, you are eligible for a tuition discount, reducing the cost of tuition for completing your Master of Science in Information Technology degree.

Certificate programs within Heinz College Executive Education include the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Chief Data Officer (CDataO), Chief Digital Officer (CDigitalO), and Public Interest Technology Certificate (PITC) programs. Any tuition that either you or your sponsor/employer has paid for completing these certificate programs (up to $40,000) will be matched with a tuition discount from the MSIT program, thereby reducing the cost of earning your Master of Science in Information Technology degree by up to $40,000.

To be considered for the Executive Education Alumni Scholarship, please indicate your enrollment status with the CIO, CISO, CRO, CDataO, CDigitalO and/or PITC Program(s) on your application for admission to the MSIT program.

Please note: The Executive Education alumni tuition discount is only available once a student has completed all of the certificate program’s requirements.

U.S. military veterans who are not receiving 100 percent tuition benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are eligible to receive a scholarship of up to 30 percent of tuition costs. This scholarship benefit is available to the spouses and children of U.S. military veterans. Applicants should indicate their eligibility within their application for admission.

Students can be awarded additional scholarship support above and beyond this particular award by the Admissions Committee.
