Impact Before You Graduate
As a Heinz College Public Policy and Management student, you will complete a team-based project, working in close collaboration with a real-world client. Heinz College sources these clients—businesses, governments, and startups—to find projects that benefit both you and client. The ideal project forces you to expand beyond your comfort zone, work with imperfect data, learn to work in a group setting, and apply the skills you acquired in class to an actual business challenge. It also provides something of value to the client.

Capstone Projects: Real Clients, Real Experience
Recently, a team of students investigated whether recycling facilities could effectively sort plastics by the sounds they make when dropped. The students created a machine-learning model that can classify plastic types by sound with over 90% precision.
AI Systems Management Summer Internships
Students in the AIM with Internship Track will complete a 10-week, full-time internship during the summer between their first and second years.
